Patrick Ahearn’s “Plantingfield Way” house  in Edgartown, MA won the prestigious Bulfinch Award for residential homes over 5000 square feet.    We spent 2 days capturing this beautiful house at dawn and dusk, moving classic cars around the driveway, and stylizing the beautiful interiors by Gauthier Stacy!

Victorian Novel

Thursday, December 6th, 2012

I photographed this beautiful and intelligent transformation of a classic Victorian  home just west of Boston for Kristen Rivoli Interior Design, and it was scooped up by New England Home!  Kristen did an amazing job of highlighting the Victorian features while creating  a classic “up to date” look.  Architects Treff LaFleche and Dean Hofelich of LDA Architects addition on the back of the house kept the classic Victorian front rooms (parlor, foyer, dinning room, study) yet added a very spacious great-room and kitchen, with master suite above.

One of the funny challenges from this shoot was the master bed.  The bed and duvet  where looking, well, like fluffy down and comfortable beds can. Lumpy!  While shooting the bedroom I had my assistant hidden behind the bed fluffing the duvet for the shot! Perfect!  Oh the artwork was not finalized in the master bedroom yet as well.  So  the painting over the mantel was propped on books then retouched out using multiple exposures with and with out the art work.  All in a days shoot!  Of course there where many other images that where taken that magazine did not have space for.

Tulips!

The blooms of spring return.

With the snows melted away, I find myself rambling around the garden in awe of the first sights of spring. It must be the re-awaking of our part of the country after a long, colorless winter that drives my desire to photograph these tulips.  They are the first amazing bursts of color and form to arrive on the scene, and I find their vibrant hues and delicate petals irresistible.

Over the past three years I have shot photographic studies of spring blooms starting with tulips and daffodils.  The show starts with the blossoming of the magnolias and dogwoods, and climaxes with the abundant fruit trees in our area—notably apple and cherry—and various perennials like bleeding heart.

Here’s a quick look at a few of my tulip images. Watch for a bounty of blossoms as the rains and warm weather take over, and come back soon to see more spring blooms.

If you like to photograph flowers this site offers a few tips and inspiration.

Corporate Interiors – Nelson

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Biogen Idec’s new corporate headquarters is a soaring multi-story space filled with light open spaces and glass.  Natural surfaces are off set with corporate colors.  Good thing you can’t see the 20ft holiday trees and other decorations that had to be moved for the shots!

Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort

Friday, December 31st, 2010

The Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort has recently changed hands and is going through a dramatic transformation.  The new owners, Scout Capital and ING Clarion are committed to changing this 2 star hotel to a 4 star resort.  Read more about the new owners and transforming plans in the South Hampton News Flash and Cape Cod Times.

We spent a few days in early December capturing the newly renovated Lobby, Common spaces, and Rooms and Suites.  The challenges where many.  Including shooting around all the construction and making it feel like summer!  Here is a few shots from the shoot.  To see more click here.
