Where do you see my work?
Sunday, January 6th, 2013Victorian Novel
Thursday, December 6th, 2012I photographed this beautiful and intelligent transformation of a classic Victorian home just west of Boston for Kristen Rivoli Interior Design, and it was scooped up by New England Home! Kristen did an amazing job of highlighting the Victorian features while creating a classic “up to date” look. Architects Treff LaFleche and Dean Hofelich of LDA Architects addition on the back of the house kept the classic Victorian front rooms (parlor, foyer, dinning room, study) yet added a very spacious great-room and kitchen, with master suite above.
One of the funny challenges from this shoot was the master bed. The bed and duvet where looking, well, like fluffy down and comfortable beds can. Lumpy! While shooting the bedroom I had my assistant hidden behind the bed fluffing the duvet for the shot! Perfect! Oh the artwork was not finalized in the master bedroom yet as well. So the painting over the mantel was propped on books then retouched out using multiple exposures with and with out the art work. All in a days shoot! Of course there where many other images that where taken that magazine did not have space for.

Art, Bees, & Interiors.
Thursday, June 14th, 2012Gay Gillies brings her love of bee’s and the natural world into her art and ultimately her home. Read more about Gay, see her Bee-centric art and what she has done with her home in this issue of Design New England Magazine. This was a wonderful assignment to photograph. Gay is an amazing artist and opens her bright yellow studio to children and students of all ages to explore painting and sculpture. Take a look at Gay’s website for more examples of her work and information on her art classes.
Home at Last
Wednesday, May 9th, 2012This Bay Village Church was almost a rock climbing gym. Thanks to serial renovators Lisey Good, of Good Interiors, and husband Lenny Snyderman this building is now a beautiful town house complete with roof deck and amazing views of the Back Bay. See more of this feature story in Design New England Magazine.
Bess’s Matzo Balls
Thursday, April 5th, 2012Just in time for Passover! While photographing this incredible Kosher Kitchen for Design New England Magazine the homeowner showed us her handwritten cook book of traditional favorites that her Mother put together for her and her sister. She graciously allowed me to capture it and let the magazine reprint her Grandma’s Matzo Ball and her mothers Chicken Soup recipes.

“High Marks” two…
Tuesday, January 10th, 2012I can finally reveal more images from the Nov/Dec 2011 issue of New England Home Magazine. This very chic South End high rise apartment designed by Terrat Elms was a feature story. Be sure to pick up the magazine for the full story of this trans-formative design. Oh, and be sure to check out Terrat Elms debut on This Old House.
Did you know?
Thursday, January 5th, 2012Did you know that the Boston Society of Architects BSA “Home Owners Project Handbook” cover photograph is a Patrick Ahearn project I shot on Martha’s Vineyard… I forgot and was pleasantly surprised, well… reminded, when I was at the BSA’s website today! You can view more images of this “Island Village Compound” by clicking the link.
The second page is my photo as well. Fantastic house in Lincoln, MA built by Merz Construction and designed by Andrew Cohen Architects. It was featured in Boston Magazine.

“Shack Chic”
Thursday, July 21st, 2011See this feature story in Design New England Magazine. “Shack Chic” is the beautiful Nantucket Island getaway “West Wind” that Ted & Kim Goodnow (of Woodmeister Master Builders) reclaimed from the dunes and transformed into this simple yet luxurious summer house. Using the greenest technology, of product and process, this “fishing shack” went through an amazing transformation. Ted & Kim worked with Mathew Moger, Moger Mehrhof Architects, and Wendy Valliere, Seldom Scene Interiors Inc.
